1. North Carolina – (5 Returning Starters): Harrison Barnes 6’8” SO, John Henson 6’10” JR, Tyler Zeller 7’0” SR, Kendall Marshall 6’4” SO and Dexter Strickland 6’3” JR

Many are predicting that the North Carolina Tar Heels will win the 2012 NCAA Championship as they return all five of their starters including National Player of the Year candidate Harrison Barnes who came on late last year averaging 21.5 PPG in his last 10 games. Barnes will be joined by defending ACC Defensive Player of the Year John Henson and Tyler Zeller in the frontcourt. Zeller tied with Barnes in leading UNC in scoring at 15.7 PPG. No one was hotter for the Tar Heels in the NCAA tournament than Zeller who averaged 25.8 PPG and 8.3 RPG. Kendall Marshall and Dexter Strickland round out the starting five in the backcourt. This young team which boasts just one senior starter made it all the way to the Elite Eight before bowing out to Kentucky. They have added a pair of McDonald’s All-American’s to the roster this season with 6’9” James Michael McAdoo out of Norfolk, VA and 6’5” PJ Hairston from Greensboro, NC. This is a very deep team and has the talent and experience to win it all.

2. Kentucky – (2 Returning Starters): Doron Lamb 6’4” SO and Terrence Jones 6’9” SO

John Calipari reloads with another stellar squad as he brought in the nation’s top recruiting class. He brought in three freshman ranked in the top 10 in the country. This includes #1 player in the nation 6’11” PF Anthony Davis, #4 6’7” SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and #8 6’2” PG Marquis Teague. Add them to the mix with returners Lamb who averaged 12.3 PPG and Jones at 15.7 PPG. Throw in key reserve 6’8” Darius Miller who is now a senior who played key minutes with Calipari’s 35-3 2009-2010 team averaging 6.5 PPG. This team has six potential NBA draft picks on its roster and will be in the mix to vie for the National Championship.

3. Ohio State – (2 Returning Starters): William Buford 6’6” SR and Jared Sullinger 6’9” SO

Many were surprised when Jared Sullinger returned for his sophomore season considering he was an All-American and a likely lottery pick in the NBA draft. This offseason he has shed 30 pounds from his 290 lb frame from dieting and doing more cardio and expects to be lighter on his feet and more aggressive around the rim. He averaged 17.2 PPG and 10.2 RPG. Buford now a senior has a good chance to become Ohio State’s all-time leading scorer before his career is done. Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year 6’2” Sophomore PG Aaron Craft comes back to run the point. He is one of the best defenders in the country and will quarterback this talented team into the NCAA tournament. Other expected starters are 6’7” SO DeShaun Thomas and 6’11” FR Amir Williams.
